Voting in Hong Kong

General elections will be held in Sweden on 13 September 2026. Swedish citizens who are at least 18 years old and who have at any time been registered in Sweden are eligible to vote.

Early Voting at the Consulate General

The Consulate General of Sweden in Hong Kong will offer early voting during the following hours:

  • Friday, 28 August: 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
  • Monday, 31 August: 9:00 a.m.–12:00 n.n.
  • Tuesday, 1 September: 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
  • Wednesday, 2 September: 3:00 p.m.–7:00 p.m.
  • Thursday, 3 September: 1:00 p.m.–4:00 p.m.
  • Friday, 4 September: 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
  • Saturday, 5 September: 10:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
  • Monday, 7 September: 9:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.

Postal votes may also be submitted at the Consulate General’s reception during regular office hours (weekdays excluding public holidays, 9:00 a.m.–12:00 n.n.).

Voting by Mail from Hong Kong

Swedish citizens residing abroad may vote by post. The Swedish Election Authority sends voting materials to voters living abroad who:

  • are included in the electoral roll, and
  • have an updated address registered with the Swedish Tax Agency.

Postal votes from abroad may be sent no earlier than 30 July 2026.

Voting Rights for Swedish Citizens Living Abroad

You are eligible to vote in the Swedish parliamentary elections and elections to the European Parliament if you:

  • are a Swedish citizen,
  • are at least 18 years old on election day, and
  • have at some point been registered in Sweden.
