Renewal of passport for adults in Cyprus

• Personal visit to the embassy.

• A valid Swedish passport and/or other valid Swedish ID document. Read more about valid ID documents for passport or national ID card applications on the Swedish Police Authority’s website.

• A completed "Information for the verification of Swedish citizenship" form.

• If you are currently—or have previously been—deregistered from the Swedish population register, you must present proof of your residence permit in your country of residence. In Cyprus, this is a registration certificate for EU citizens.

• You must present an original certificate of citizenship if you acquired Swedish citizenship through an application process.

• If you hold other citizenships, you must present proof of citizenship and/or the travel documents issued by those countries.

• The fee for the travel document is currently equivalent to 1,600 Swedish kronor (payable in euros). Payment should preferably be made by debit/credit card, or alternatively in cash at the embassy when applying. If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount.

• If you wish to collect the passport at a different embassy or consulate, you must inform the processing officer of this before the application process begins.

• If the passport has been stolen or lost, a local police report must be filed, and the police report must be presented at the embassy at the time of application.

 Note:

All documents must be presented in the original at the time of application. 

Under the Passport Act that entered into force on 15 April 2016, Swedish citizens may be issued a maximum of three ordinary passports within a five-year period.

Collecting the passport

Passports and national ID cards must be collected in person; a power of attorney is not accepted. Please bring your previous passport or ID document when collecting the new one.

If the passport application was submitted in Sweden, a collection fee equivalent to 200 Swedish kronor (payable in euros) applies; payment can be made by card or in cash at the embassy. If paying in cash, please bring the exact amount.
