Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Pretoria, South Africa.

The Embassy of Sweden in South Africa represents the Swedish government in the Republic of South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Lesotho.  

The Embassy is also responsible for the cooperation with the regional organisation SADC (Southern Africa Development Community) with its head office in Gaborone, Botswana. 

Commerce and trade

The Embassy promotes commercial and trade exchanges between Sweden and South Africa, Botswana and Namibia. In cooperation with Business Sweden, the Embassy assists companies to find business partners and opportunities for trade and investment. Consular and migration matters

Our consular section assists both Swedish citizens who are visiting South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana and Namibia, and South African citizens who wish to visit Sweden. VFS Global in Pretoria, Cape Town and Durban handle respectively visa applications from South Africa to Sweden. However, please note that it is the German Embassy in Gaborone handles visa applications from Botswana to Sweden (https://gaborone.diplo.de/), while the Finnish Embassy in Windhoek is responsible for visa applications from Namibia to Sweden (www.finland.org.na/Public/Default.aspx)

Sweden’s bilateral development cooperation strategies with South Africa, Botswana and Namibia ended in December 2013.
