The Embassy has received confirmation that the flight with Qatar Airways from Johannesburg to Doha on June 2 has received approval from South African authorities. Concerning the following planned flights the situation is a bit unclear, so the Embassy recommends everyone who is interested in these flights to keep a close contact with the airline and check with them before reservations are made.
The information about the announced flight with Qatar Airways has been a bit confusing. As far as the embassy has been able to understand, there may be a few flights leaving next week. We would therefore recoomend everyone that has a reservation with Qatar Airways to keep in close contact with the airline. As we have started sending Swedes on the flights leaving for Europe, we find it necessary to remind you about the rules concerning luggage. Please note that these are repatriation flights and the rules may be stricter than normal. • For the flights to Germany 2 x 20 kgs are allowed. • Golf bags or other over-size luggage is NOT ALLOWED. • Strollers and children’s car chairs are allowed. • Pets are not allowed. • Normal rules apply for hand luggage. • As for the flights to Brussels and Amsterdam, please check on the information sheets you have received.
We have now received permission to start the repatriation flights to Europe. The first flights will leave Cape Town and Johannesburg respectively tomorrow Friday at 22.00. The first Swedish passengers will be flying on Tuesday April 7 in the evening. Those departing on Tuesday have already been contacted and those departing on Wednesday April 8 will be informed within the near future. Others that have registered for repatriation will be contacted as the flights thereafter are filled up.
