From 1 November 2022, applicants for a resident permit must show their passport at an in-person visit before the Swedish Migration Agency can make a decision.
The Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai can only receive applicants who are residing in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui. Applicants not residing in those mentioned areas, and who need to conduct passport checks and submit biometrics, are referred to the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing.
