Sweden's Development Cooperation with Zimbabwe has a long history and dates back to 1980, the year of Zimbabwe's independence. Since 1980 Sweden has a permanent presence in Zimbabwe as a development cooperation partner. The current Development Cooperation Strategy with Zimbabwe for 2022-2026 focus on three main areas:
- Human rights, democracy, the rule of law and gender equality
- Environment, climate and sustainable use of natural resources
- Inclusive economic development
