Schengen visas, extended processing time for certain countries

Extended processing time of 45 days for nationals of The Gambia, Russia, Somalia and Guinea:

  • On 7 October, 2021, the Council adopted Implementing Decision (EU) 2021/1781, suspending certain provisions of Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 (Visa Code) concerning The Gambia.

  • On 9 September, 2022, the Council adopted Decision (EU) 2022/1500 with updated guidelines on October 3, 2022, fully suspending the Agreement between the European Community and the Russian Federation on visa facilitation for EU and Russian citizens.

  • On 25 June, 2026, the Council adopted Implementing decision - EU - 2026/1454 - EN - EUR-Lex, suspending certain provisions of Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 (Visa Code) in respect of Somalia.

  • On 10 July, 2026, the Council adopted Implementing decision - EU - 2026/1733 - EN - EUR-Lex, suspending certain provisions of Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 (Visa Code) in respect of Guinea.
