EXHIBITION: Stoltjude ("ProudJew")

04 Sep 2025

Embassy of Sweden presents the exhibition @stoltjude ("@proudJew”) by the Jewish Youth Federation Sweden and the Living History Forum.

The exhbition @stoltjude (“@proudJew”) is based on stories shared on the Instagram account @stoltjude which is run by the Jewish Youth Federation Sweden. Each week, young Jewish people with diverse backgrounds and experiences post their thoughts and stories on the Instagram account. Through the recollection of childhood memories and exploration of dreams for the future, these young people explore what it’s like being a young Swedish Jew today.

Produced by the Jewish Youth Federation Sweden and the Living History Forum, the exhibition features 15 posters (personal stories) and is part of the celebration of 250 years of Jewish life in Sweden.

In 1775, German-born Aaron Isaac became the first Jew to be allowed to live in Sweden without converting to Christianity. Isaac later founded the first Jewish community in Stockholm, and today, Jews are recognized as one of Sweden’s five official national minorities. The 250th anniversary is an opportunity to highlight the Jewish minority, Jewish culture and Jewish cultural heritage that is found all over Sweden. Read more about the anniversary here: 250 years of Jewish life in Sweden – anniversary year is underway
