Vacancy - Project Officer for Reform Cooperation

The Consulate General of Sweden in Istanbul is looking for a Project Officer for Reform Cooperation for six months (10 November 2025 – 19 June 2026).

Reform cooperation is a central part of Sweden’s engagement in Türkiye, with a strong focus on supporting democracy, human rights, and civil society through projects conducted by Turkish civil society organizations.

The Project Officer for Reform Cooperation is part of the Consulate Generals section for Swedish-Turkish cooperation.

Areas of responsibility: 

  • Handling reform cooperation projects under the direction of the Head of Section for Swedish-Turkish Cooperation, including planning, application, and the decision-making process for projects.
  • Following up on funded projects, including financial monitoring, reporting, and archiving. Drafting reports to the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
  • Planning and implementing activities and events related to reform cooperation, including maintaining close contact with Swedish stakeholders.
  •  Developing and maintaining a network of contacts with partners, donors, international organizations, and other relevant actors.
  • Assisting colleagues working for the Consulate General when required.

Qualifications:

  • Experience from working in a similar role.
  • Turkish citizenship, along with good knowledge of Turkish civil society and the country.
  • Fluent in Turkish, English, and preferably Swedish (written and oral), including ability to translate in meetings to and from Turkish and English/Swedish.
  • A genuine interest in the fields of Human Rights, Democracy, and international relations.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills and a good team-member, also willing to work independently.

General Conditions:

Salaries are individual and competitive, vacation 28 days per year, Social Security Insurance (SGK) plus additional medical insurance.

Working week is 39 hours and 45 minutes, with flexibility to work during evening events.
