Swedish and South African Dads – a photo exhibition about gender-equitable fatherhood launches on Father’s Day 17 June 2018. Child rearing has traditionally been the preserve of women but a growing number of fathers in Sweden have begun to see the advantages of taking parental leave and developing close ties with their children early on. In South Africa, new parental leave provisions are imminent, and some men are also increasingly getting involved in the caregiving of children. This holds immense potential to relieve the burden of care on women, and to improve children’s developmental outcomes. The photo exhibition ‘Swedish and South African Dads’ explores how modern dads are stepping out of the stereotype of the distant father, and are becoming more actively involved in domestic and unpaid child care work.   LAUNCH DATE: Father’s Day, 17th June 2018 VENUE: Menlyn Maine Piazza TIME: 10:00  The exhibition of 40 images will launch on Father’s Day along with several exciting activities and entertainment for dads and their families and will run until Friday 22 June 2018.
