Important information about Saudi visas for visitors affected by flight cancellations

Due to the situation in the region, some airlines have cancelled their flights to and from Saudi Arabia. This has meant that some travelers have not been able to leave the country before their visas have expired. The embassy has been informed that Saudi authorities have introduced temporary relief to ensure that these people are not subject to fines.

It is important for each traveller to verify regulations at their time of travel, but the Embassy has been informed of the following:
1. Extension of visas that have expired as of March 8, 2026
Visas can, at the request of your visa application sponsor, be extended until May 18, 2026. Customary fees apply.
2. Exit without the need for extension: If your visa has expired between March 8 and May 18, 2026, you can travel out of Saudi Arabia directly via a port of departure without extending your visa and without the risk of fines. In these cases, the excess stay in the Kingdom is considered to be beyond your control.
Applies to all visa types: The rules cover all types of visitor visas, including Umrah, transit, and final exit visas.
Period in which the rules apply: These temporary measures are valid from 31 March 2026 to 18 May 2026.
