The embassy is implementing changes to opening hours and procedures in connection with the release of new appointment slots for passport applications on November 14. The goal is to improve service and free up more time slots for passport renewals. To streamline the handling of passport applications, certain matters will now be processed at specific times.
Application for coordination number and Retention of Swedish citizenship after age 22 Tuesdays 09:30–11:30
If you are applying for your child’s first passport or were born outside Sweden and wish to retain your Swedish citizenship after turning 22, choose “Apply for coordination number” as the reason for your visit.
Renewal of passport or ID card Wednesdays and Thursdays 09:30–11:30
If you already have a Swedish personal identity number or coordination number, choose “Apply for Swedish passport/ID documents”. You are welcome to book an appointment on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 09:30–11:30.
Pick up passport and stamping of life certificates and other civil matters Wednesdays and Thursdays 13:00–15:00
The embassy is introducing appointment booking for passport collection and stamping of life certificates and other civil law documents. You are welcome to book an appointment on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 13:00–15:00. Choose “Pick up Swedish passport/ID card” or “visit during reception hours”.
Important to come well prepared
The embassy reminds all visitors of the importance of being well prepared for their booked appointment.
Please carefully read the passport renewal checklist on our website before booking.
The form “Verification of Swedish citizenship” must be printed and fully completed for every passport renewal application.
The following risks delaying the process, and the embassy may ask you to book a new appointment at a later time:
Cancel your appointment if you cannot attend
To allow more people to apply for passports, it is important to cancel your appointment if you are unable to attend.
Missed appointments without cancellation prevent others from using that time slot.
By canceling in advance, you help the embassy to offer better and more accessible service for everyone.
Phone hours Wednesdays and Thursdays 15:00–17:00
After assisting visitors in the reception, we are available to answer questions by phone during these hours.
Embassy goal
With these changes, the embassy hopes to offer more time slots for passport renewals and create a calmer, more efficient environment in the reception for all visitors.
