What is the role of FEBI?

As the official EU chamber in India, the Federation of European Business in India (FEBI) has actively contributed to the EU-India Free Trade Agreement (FTA) negotiations. Through its sectoral committees, FEBI consolidated inputs from EU businesses operating in India across key sectors, including Automotive, Agri-foods, Medical Devices, Telecom, Consumer Goods, and Banking & Financial Services. These inputs covered a wide range of aspects such as tariff reductions, technical barriers to trade, and intellectual property rights (IPR). Many of FEBI’s recommendations have been taken into consideration. The FEBI Business Sentiment Survey 2026 also highlights the positive outlook of EU businesses in India with the implementation of the FTA.

As attention now turns to the implementation of the FTA, FEBI will continue to engage closely with policymakers and stakeholders to support effective rollout and ensure that the Agreement translates into tangible benefits to the EU businesses.
