Job opportunity as Chef

The position can be full time or part time according to agreement. The starting date will be according to agreement, but preferably as soon as possible. 

The Embassy of Sweden represents Sweden in Hungary and Slovenia. The Swedish Residence is located in District XII in Budapest.

The chef is responsible for planning and preparing official meals and receptions hosted by the Ambassador.

The position allows for a high degree of creative freedom e.g. in deciding what menus to prepare and how to plan the work. We offer a good work environment and beneficial conditions allowing for a good work-life balance. The chef is an important part of our team.

Main tasks & responsibilities

• Responsible for managing the Residence kitchen
• Responsible for preparing menus, including purchases and cooking
• Cooperation & coordination with the Residence housekeeper and Embassy staff
• Basic budget and accounting work, e.g. purchasing of ingredients
• Other duties that the Employer may assign

Qualifications

• Previous experience in working as a chef and managing a kitchen
• A genuine culinary interest and passion for food
• Good communication skills and problem-solving skills
• Flexibility in terms of working hours
• Working proficiency in English & Hungarian
• Driver’s license (at least B category)
• Merit: Knowledge of and/or interest in Swedish & Scandinavian cuisine

Terms and conditions

• Full time position (following probationary period) until 14 August 2027 with a possibility for extension
• Full time working hours of 39 hours/week (mainly daytime but every now and then also dinners in the evening and on exceptional cases also weekends) with a beneficial plan for annual leave. Part time working hours will be according to agreement.
