Importance of culture to promote dialogue and understanding - Malmö Film Festival

During Malmö Arab Film Festival (MAFF) Charlotta Sparre, director of the Swedish Dialogue Institute in the Middle East and North Africa, spoke to film makers about the importance of film and culture in promoting dialogue and better understanding.

As a Swedish diplomat, Sparre has throughout her career worked on connecting diplomacy and culture. At MAFF Market Forum - a platform for the Nordic and Arab film industries designed to stimulate collaboration, co-production and distribution opportunities - Sparre spoke about how films can contribute to intercultural understanding and promote diversity and tolerance. She shared experiences from Jordan and Egypt on how film projects have served as bridge-building between people and cultures. Sparre also presented the mandate and work of the Dialogue Institute and shared thoughts on how dialogue can be enhanced and strengthened through culture.

Malmö Arab Film Festival (MAFF) works as an intercultural platform for diversity and tolerance. As one of the largest film festivals with the focus on Arab cinema, outside of the Arab world, we offer a meeting ground for the Nordic and Arab film industries. MAFF has an annual structure with events and festivals all over Sweden with special projects and programs.
