The CIIE, announced by president Xi Jinping last year, took place in Shanghai on the 5th to 10th of November. The CIIE, which will be an annually reoccurring event, is China’s largest import fair, with an aim to increase imports. Over 3,600 companies from around the globe participated and met with the more than 400,000 visiting Chinese buyers.
The Swedish Minister for Infrastructure Mr. Tomas Eneroth participated in the opening of the Hongqiao Economic and Trade Forum, along with delegates from over 130 other countries. Minister Eneroth also had a bilateral meeting with vice-minister of commerce Wang Bingnan as well as inaugurated the Swedish Country Pavilion, arranged by Team Sweden China - the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing, the Consulate General in Shanghai and Business Sweden. More than forty Swedish companies and organisations showcased Swedish solutions in the pavilion under the theme of Sustainability and Innovation, with a focus on co-creation.
In the margins of the CIIE, the Ministry of Commerce of China, together with the Provincial Government of Hubei arranged a Sino-Nordic Economic Cooperation Forum. Minister Eneroth, together with Ambassador Anna Lindstedt, participated in a round table discussion which was followed by a signing of contracts between Nordic companies and Chinese counterparts. Seven Swedish companies signed agreements at an estimated value of USD 360 million.
