Swedish Business Climate Survey

Launched in 2020 as a global initiative by Team Sweden, the Business Climate Survey serves as an important tool that provides insights from Swedish companies on the business environment across markets globally. Australia participated for the first time in 2025.

Among the world's largest economies, Australia ranks 10th globally in GDP per capita and is the second-highest for median wealth. It’s currently the sixth-largest market for Swedish exports outside Europe, with the true figures for the economic exchange being significantly higher since many Swedish businesses produce locally or include global value chains.

In 2025, Swedish companies operating in Australia participated for the first time in the Business Climate Survey, coordinated by Team Sweden in Australia: Business Sweden, the Swedish Australian Chamber of Commerce, and the Embassy of Sweden in Canberra.

The overall picture in international markets showed that Swedish companies’ perception of the business climate in their contexts and their investment plans for the coming year have reached the lowest point in five years, mainly due to geopolitical turmoil and uncertainty. Despite this, Swedish companies continue to show resilience, maintaining stable profitability worldwide, while the Swedish brand endures as a strong competitive advantage in times of uncertainty.

The Australian results painted a more optimistic picture, with most Swedish companies perceiving a positive or neutral business climate, reporting high levels of profitability, and planning to maintain or increase their investments in Australia in the coming year.
