“Armenia and Georgia are two young democracies that have requested support and engagement from the international community. That is why we chose to travel to these countries. This is also well in line with my ambition of focusing on democracy issues in the light of the Riksdag's democracy centenary", said the Speaker Andreas Norlén prior to the trip.

In Armenia, the delegation was received by the President of the National Assembly Ararat Mirzoyan. The programme also included meetings with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan, His Holiness Catholicos Karekin II and representatives of civil society. The Speaker also participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex.
