How to receive your decision and residence permit card

Decision of your permit is usually sent to your reference person/employer in Sweden if authorized by you.

Decision

You as the applicant can collect your decision at the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok or via your representative in Sweden with power of attorney. Due to security reasons, the decision cannot be sent via email.

Residence Permit Card

Once the case has been settled by the Swedish Migration Agency and the applicant has submitted biometrics, it normally takes four weeks for the card to be sent to the Embassy. It is therefore NOT recommended for you to purchase any tickets before you receive your card.

Important information for applicants from the Philippines

From September 1, 2018, the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok is responsible for applicants from the Philippines regarding migration matters. You will need to pick up your residence permit card in Bangkok. Your (the applicant) passport or ID card must be shown to collect the card. If you cannot be present at the Embassy to collect your card, you must authorize a third party to represent you. An original signed power of attorney must be written in English/Swedish appointing someone else to collect the card on your behalf. Copy of the representative’s passport or ID must be attached to the power of attorney in order to identify the representative on the applicant’s behalf.

Regulations during the current situation of Covid-19

If you need a visa to enter Sweden, once you have been granted a permit longer than three months, a residence permit card must be issued before your arrival to Sweden. The card is ordered automatically if you have been photographed and fingerprinted. If you have not been photographed and fingerprinted, you should visit the Embassy without an appointment on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday between 08.00 – 12.00 hrs., so as to provide biometrics data. Bring your passport. Please check our opening and submission hours during the current situation of Covid-19, click here.

Biometrics should be submitted at the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok.

Residence permit cards are only proofs of residence permits. They cannot be used as ID cards or travel documents.

The Embassy does not provide any courier services to personal addresses or Swedish Consulates regarding your residence permit card. You can visit the Embassy during our opening hours to collect your card once you have checked that it is at the Embassy.

If you have been granted a residence permit and do not require a visa, you travel to Sweden and arrange for the card there. Contact your nearest Swedish Migration Agency to have your photograph and fingerprints taken.
