New Visa Code

New revised Visa Code from 2nd February 2020

On 2 February 2020 a new Visa Code (Regulation (EU) 2019/1155 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 20 June 2019 amending Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 establishing a Community Code on Visas (Visa Code)) enters into force.

The EU has revised its Visa Code in order to facilitate visa procedures for travelers. Sweden together with other Schengen countries will start applying the new Visa Code on 2 February 2020 when deciding regarding Schengen visas. There are several changes in the new code, e.g. new fee (80 EUR and 40 EUR from 6 to 12-year-old) and new application form is introduced. The new visa code also gives travelers the possibility to lodge their applications six months before the start of the intended visit, and, as a rule, no later than 15 calendar days before the start of the intended visit.

For more information on new EU visa rules, please find more information here.

Please note that a new application form is introduced. You can find it here, on VFS Global Beirut webpage and on the Swedish Migration Agency webpage.
