This applies to you who live in Lebanon and want to apply for a visa or a residence and work permit in Sweden
The embassy in Beirut has had its migration operations paused since October 2024. From 1 October, 2025, the embassy will not handle migration cases at all. You should then instead turn to the Swedish embassy in Amman, Jordan.
If you are a citizen of Lebanon, or legally reside there, you have, until October 2024, turned to the Swedish embassy in Beirut to apply for a residence and work permit.
The embassy in Beirut will cease all migration operations on 1 October, 2025. You should then instead personally visit the embassy in Amman to, for example, conduct an interview or a passport control or provide biometric data. To book an appointment or to contact a foreign mission regarding other matters, see contact information on swedenabroad.se
If you have already submitted an application to the embassy in Beirut and are now, for example, waiting to receive your residence permit card, you will be contacted.
Schengen Visa
If you live in Lebanon and want to apply for a Schengen visa, you should submit your application at one of VFS Global's offices in the area.
Your application and passport will be sent to the foreign mission responsible for applications in the country where you apply. That foreign mission will make a decision.
Passport and decision will then be sent back to VFS Global where you can pick them up. Please note that the embassy in Beirut will not be able to answer questions about Schengen visas. If you have questions, you should instead ask them to VFS Global's call center. Contact information can be found on VFS Global's website.
