Officer for Culture and Creative Industries

The Embassy is looking for an officer with commercial skills to be responsible for the promotion of Swedish culture and creative industries in Colombia. Another part of the job will be academic cooperation.

The Embassy of Sweden in Colombia covers political, cultural, and commercial relations with Colombia, Ecuador and Venezuela, as well as development cooperation with Colombia and regional development cooperation with Latin America.

The Embassy has during the last years developed an ambitious agenda for cultural promotion through several high-profile events. The plan is also to integrate cultural and commercial matters further and to enhance the promotion of Swedish actors within the creative industries.

The position is part of the Embassy's section for political, promotion and communication affairs. The chosen candidate will work closely with the other members of the team, with the objective of unlocking synergies between culture, commercial affairs and communication.

Role and Main Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and follow up on an annual plan for promotion of Swedish culture and creative industries.
  • Plan and carry out the Embassy's participation in cultural events, connecting Swedish actors in the cultural field with Colombian event organizers and other relevant actors.
  • Focal point for, and promoting, the academic cooperation between Colombia and Sweden, as well as the Alumni network.
  • Develop partnerships with actors to ensure external funding for activities.
  • Manage contacts with the Swedish Institute and other Swedish cultural institutions.
  • Engage with key actors in Colombian cultural and creative industry sectors, building strategic networks.
  • Contribute to the overall work of the Embassy.  

Requirements

  • University degree in a relevant field, such as Arts management, Communications, International Relations, Cultural studies, Business/Commercial studies or related areas.
  • At least five years of relevant professional experience relevant to the position.
  • Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English and Spanish. Knowledge of Swedish and/or experience of living in Sweden is an advantage.
  • Strong ability to organize time and work independently, coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Capability to learn and adapt to a multicultural environment. 

Desirable Skills

  • Good knowledge of, and networks within, the Colombian as well as the Swedish cultural and creative sectors.
  • Creative content production and design abilities (a.Adobe Creative Cloud).
  • Excellent skills in communication, social media, event planning and project managment. 

Personal Suitability

Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain strict confidentiality.

Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach.
