The Embassy of Sweden in Vilnius, Lithuania, is looking for a Receptionist/Information Assistant and Assistant to the Defence Attaché.

The Embassy announces one job opening as Receptionist/Information Assistant and Assistant to the Defence Attaché.  The successful candidates should begin their work as soon as possible or at a time agreed between the employer and the candidate. Type of position: full-time, permanent contract with probation period.

Tasks include:

As Receptionist/Information Assistant (50%)

  • Staffs the reception and the telephone switchboard. Responds to general enquires from the public.
  • Assists with consular matters and certain related administrative tasks, such as collection of service fees. Maintains contact with Lithuanian authorities on certain consular matters, and monitors media consular news.
  • Administrates the embassy’s website.
  • Monitors Lithuanian media, prepares and holds news briefings (note: a second-hand responsibility)
  • Other administrative tasks.

As Assistant to the Defense Attaché (50%)

  • Assists the Defense Attaché with administrative tasks such as calendar, bookings, archive and other
  • Participates in preparations for high-level visits, visits to exercises etc.
  • Handles routine contacts and issues with Lithuanian authorities and Lithuanian Armed Forces
  • Monitors defense-related news and produces a weekly report

When other colleagues are absent, the employee is required to fulfil other tasks at the Embassy according to a system of second-hand responsibilities.

The ideal candidate should have a relevant university degree and minimum of 3 years relevant work experience. Very good English and Lithuanian written and oral communication skills are requirements. Working knowledge of Swedish is highly advantageous. It is desirable that the successful candidate could take up the position as soon as possible.

Staff recruited locally by the Embassy of Sweden in Vilnius are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Lithuanian employment law. Indicative gross salary range 1200-1500 EUR. Note that salaries are set individually and will be discussed with the prospective candidates at a later stage in the recruitment process. A probation period of 3 (three) months will be applied.
