Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Nairobi

The Embassy of Sweden in Nairobi is one of Sweden’s largest missions abroad. The Embassy represents Sweden in Kenya, Seychelles and Comoros, as well as to the UN Environment Programme (UNEP) and the UN Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat).

Sweden also has honorary consuls in Mombasa, Kenya, and in the capital Victoria on Seychelles.

At the Embassy, there is also an Ambassador to Somalia with a dedicated Somalia Section, responsible for Sweden’s relations and development cooperation with Somalia.

The Embassy staff includes personnel from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), the Swedish Migration Agency, the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) and the EU’s Rule of Law Mission in Somalia (EUCAP/EURLO), as well as locally employed staff. In total, around 80 people work at the Embassy.

The Embassy works to promote bilateral relations between Sweden and the countries in the region by representing and advancing Swedish foreign policy, interests and values. Its work covers political and economic relations, development cooperation, trade and investment promotion, communication and cultural activities. The Embassy also provides consular services and handles migration matters.
