Our task is to represent Sweden, the Swedish Government in Latvia and to promote Swedish interests.
We do this by having a continuous dialogue with Latvian representatives, for example regarding cooperation within the EU and through information and collaboration with the cultural and defence sectors as well as with industry, public authorities and other organisations.
The Embassy handles consular and official matters for Swedish citizens. Since 1 January 2014 the Embassy no longer accepts applications for Swedish passports or handles migration matters.
The Embassy has a staff of twelve people; five posted diplomats and seven locally employed. Ambassador Annika Jagander is head of the Embassy since 1 September 2017.
There are no Swedish consulates in Latvia.
The Embassy has close contact with other Swedish organisations in Latvia such as Business Sweden, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Latvia, and Stockholm School of Economics in Riga.
We also collaborate with many cultural practitioners in Latvia.
