The genre-bending Joakim Åhlund and Jockum Nordström Band perform an energetic, eclectic, avant-garde show that mixes jazz, rock, and blues with samples from other artists and field recordings.
Swedish artists and musicians Jockum Nordström and Joakim Åhlund have been playing and recording together since early 2007. Jockum Nordström is a well-known visual artist in Sweden – last year, Vogue described him as “the Rock Star of the Stockholm Art Scene” – and acclaimed musician and producer Joakim Åhlund is a member of the bands Caesars, Teddybears, Smile, and Les Big Byrd.
Rock, blues, jazz, and visual art come together in their recordings, which include a mash-up of samples and field recordings. The duo has released three records including Dracula's Son (Junk Yard Connections) and Paddan & Hunden (Kning Disk).

The Joakim Åhlund and Jockum Nordström Band’s three-stop U.S. tour follows on the heels of the opening of Jockum Nordström's first U.S. solo visual arts exhibition at the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans on March 22. The tour is organized by Elena Wolay, DJ, producer, curator and one of Sweden's finest presenters of new formats for arts and music.
