The Consulate General of Sweden presents a lunchtime concert of Nordic Music and Opera Arias with Jenny Lind scholarship recipient Kine Sandtrø and pianist Julia Sjöstedt. Free and open to the public.
Opera singer Kine Sandtrø is the winner of the prestigious 2018 Jenny Lind Scholarship, awarded by the Royal Swedish Academy of Music and the People's Parks and Community Centers in Stockholm.
Kine Sandtrø is 26 years old and comes from Stjørdal in Trøndelag, Norway. In 2017, she started her candidate program at the University College of Opera in Stockholm, Sweden. Kine has previously studied music at Ole Vig Vidregående Skole, Birka Folkhögskola, University of Stavanger, Barratt Due Musikkinstitutt, and the Opera Studio at Kulturama in Stockholm. She is the recipient of scholarships from Norwegian Odd Håves Minnesfond and Tom Wilhelmsens Foundation. Kine is very passionate about sharing her interest in classical music opera with other young adults. In 2012-2016, she was one of the youth ambassadors at The Norwegian Opera and Ballet. She has an extensive repertoire containing operas, romances, and sacred works.
Julia Sjöstedt is 23 years old and comes from Härnösand in Sweden. She started taking piano lessons at the age of 12 and three years later, she moved to Stockholm to study at the Lilla Akademiens Musikgymnasium and continued on to the Royal College of Music, Stockholm, where she took her Bachelor's Degree. She has just started her Master's Degree under the guidance of Stefan Bojsten. Julia performs at concerts both as a soloist and as a chamber musician, and she has performed with her school and as a freelancer at the Stockholm Concert House and Berwaldhallen among other places. She has received several scholarships, for example from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. In addition to classical music, Julia is also very interested in other music genres and loves to listen to and discover new music.
