Bay Area Book Festival, May 4-5 in Berkeley

The fifth anniversary Bay Area Book Festival is a two-day event with literary sessions presenting top authors from this region, the nation, and the world, along with an outdoor fair with hundreds of literary exhibitors in downtown Berkeley. Swedish authors Stefan Ahnhem, Jonas Bonnier and Jenny Rogneby will participate in four of the programs. The Festival will also host Norwegian author Linn Ullmann (daughter of Liv Ullmann and Ingmar Bergman) in two different programs.

About the participating authors:
Stefan Ahnhem
Stefan Ahnhem is an established screenwriter for both TV and film. He has worked on a variety of projects, including adaptations of Henning Mankell's "Kurt Wallander" series. He also serves on the board of the Swedish Writers Guild. "Victim Without a Face," his first novel, won Sweden's Crimetime Specsavers Award and Germany's MIMI for best crime fiction. He lives in Stockholm. "Eighteen Below" is his newest novel. 

Jonas Bonnier
Jonas Bonnier is a screenwriter and journalist as well as a novelist. He was the CEO & President of the Bonnier Group from 2008 to 2014. Bonnier lives with his wife and two children in Miami. His latest work, The Helicopter Heist about the Västberga helicopter robbery, has been sold to 34 territories. It is his first attempt in the suspense novel category. The film- and TV-rights were acquired by Netflix and Jake Gyllenhalls production company Nine Stories. 

Jenny Rogneby
Jenny Rogneby was born in Ethiopia, but was given away for adoption when she was one year old. She grew up in northern Sweden, studied criminology at Stockholm University, and became an investigator in the Stockholm City Police Department. Her work inspired her to create the character of Leona and write the best-selling crime novel, Leona: The Die is Cast. Before her career in law enforcement, Rogneby was a singer and member of the pop group Cosmo4.

Linn Ullmann
Norwegian Linn Ullmann is the daughter of Liv Ullmann and Ingmar Bergman.
Linn Ullmann´s national best-selling novel "Unquiet" was published in 2015 to outstanding critical acclaim. For "Unquiet," Linn Ullmann has been nominated to the Nordic Council´s Literary Prize (Nordisk råds litteraturpris 2016), as well as the National Critic's Prize (Kritikerprisen 2015) and The Kulturhuset Stadsteaterns International Literary Prize 2017. She also received the National Broadcasting's literary prize (P2-lytternes romanpris 2015). In 2017 the Swedish Academy awarded Linn Ullmann with The Dobloug Prize for her entire body of work.

 
About the Bay Area Book Festival
Nearly 500 speakers and exhibitors from across a spectrum of genres and topics will come together with tens of thousands of book enthusiasts and celebrate two days of interviews, panels, keynotes, performances, participatory activities, exhibits and a lively outdoor fair. The festival expects 35,000 attendees and is open Saturday 10 am-9:30 pm and Sunday 10 am - 6:30 pm.
