The Modern Cooking Facility for Africa (MCFA) is a new financing programme supporting scale-up of clean cooking solutions in six Sub-Saharan African countries including Tanzania. The aim of the programme is to provide over 3 million people in Africa with access to clean, modern and affordable cooking solutions by the end of 2027. Friday 13 May 2022 NEFCO’S Vice President Ash Sharma presented the programme to a group of stakeholders gathered at the Embassy of Sweden to discuss this important topic. Nine Tanzanian households out of ten cook with fuelwood or charcoal as main energy source and indoor air pollution is estimated to cause more than 33000 premature deaths annually in the country. Supplying clean cooking solutions is a major challenge that can deliver both health and environmental benefits.
