LAUNCH: Pamoja

27 Jul 2022, 7.00 AM

How can we make the world a better place for all? That is a big question and not one with one single, or simple, answer. The challenges of today are many, complex, and often defying national borders. Changing the world is hard, but if we work together, change is possible. Pamoja- together change is possible.

People have changed the world for the better before, and the Pamoja exhibition is here to remind us about the power of solidarity and activism. It is produced by the Swedish Institute and tells a story about the long relationship of cooperation between Sweden and the countries of southern Africa. It unfolds the international solidarity concerning a shared commitment to decolonization and national liberation.

The material in the virtual exhibition is primarily aimed at young people, and it serves as a basis for conversations about today’s global challenges, to create a sense of agency and encourage activism. It has been created to inspire young people of today to make the world a better place for all, by telling the story of the anti-apartheid movement and the international solidarity.

The world is not the same as it was then, and the challenges we face are different. But the idea that active citizens can change the world if they work together is still valid. Using the example of the past, we hope that the virtual exhibition will raise questions about what world we want to live in, what changes we want to see, and how we can drive that change. The virtual exhibition will be launched in Dar es salaam on July 27 2022.
