Last Friday, incoming Ambassador Johannes Oljelund and Defense Attaché Antoon Hertogs visited Saab Kockum's production yard in Karlskrona where the Swedish submarines are built. Here you see them inspecting a model of the Swedish submarine A26, Blekinge Klass. Read the full article below.

The shipyard area is included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, and has undergone a major modernization program where parts of the traditional shipyard craft have been replaced by precision machines and ultra modern tools. In order for the end product to meet the high requirements set by the Swedish Armed Forces, the knowledge and professional skills of the many shipyard workers are also required.

A large number of parts, ranging from frames to finished steel sections, are put together during the complicated production process.

After the visit to Saab Kockums, the Swedish Armed Forces' Submarine Flotilla in Örlogshamnen in Karlskrona was also visited. Here they could see the recently half-time modified submarine Uppland. The submarine's various systems were described and shown during the visit.
