The bonds between Sweden and Japan are growing stronger. Japan’s largest airline, All Nippon Airways, (ANA), will be launching a non-stop service between Stockholm and Tokyo Haneda next year.
“During 2018 Sweden and Japan celebrated 150 years of diplomatic relations. Since 1868 our countries have deepened their friendship and built a cooperative relationship in many fields including the political, economic, academic and cultural fields. This year we have had a harvest time in our relations with Japan. We have signed a Social Security Agreement, a Working Holiday Agreement and we have witnessed the beginning of the EU-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement. Today we are extremely pleased that ANA has decided to open a non-stop route between Stockholm and Tokyo. It will create opportunities to further enhance our already strong contacts, trade and investments. It will bring us closer together”, says the ambassador of Sweden to Japan, Pereric Högberg.
The number of passengers flying between Stockholm and Tokyo has increased by 50 percent over the past year. With business exchanges growing between the two countries and many tourists traveling in both directions, there is a need for improved access between the countries.
