The 27th Congress of The Nordic Association of Agricultural Sciences

The 27th Congress of The Nordic Association of Agricultural Sciences (NJF) will take place in Reykjavik between September 27 to 29, 2022. The last time the NJF congress took place in Iceland was back in 1995.

The association's return and focus areas fit appropriately with the celebration of the 250th anniversary of Solander's visit to Iceland. The congress will honour the 250th anniversary of Solander's visit through an excursion in his footsteps. The Embassy of Sweden is a congress partner and will host a reception to greet the attendees and acknowledge this brilliant connection.

The NJF proceeds back more than a hundred years. Dr Anders Elofson, a grassland specialist from Sweden, recognised the need for exchange between agricultural researchers in the Nordic countries. In February 1918, Elofson proposed his idea at a Danish plant production meeting. Later in September of that year, the NJF, which first included Sweden, Norway and Denmark, was assembled. Finland subsequently joined the association in 1919, and Iceland in 1927. Likewise, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania entered in 2005.
