05-10 November 2018: Study Visit for Women Parliamentarians

The Swedish Institute Alexandria, in cooperation with the Danish Egyptian Dialogue Institute (DEDI) are holding a study visit for eleven current women parliamentarians to Stockholm and Copenhagen from seven countries in the region (Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Sudan, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco). The study visit started today in Copenhagen and in Stockholm on the 7th of November, and will last until the 10th of November 2018.

During their stay, the women parliamentarians will have the chance to meet and exchange with:

  • Members of the Committee on the Labour Market
  • Representative of the working group on Gender Equality in the Swedish Parliament
  • Ambassador for Feminist Foreign Policy
  • Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida)
  • The Swedish Women Mediation Network
  • Head of Operation1325 division for Gender Equality
  • Ministry of Health and Social Affairs
  • The National Organization for Women's Shelters
  • Young Women's Shelters in Sweden.

This study trip will provide the participating parliamentarians with a wide knowledge base created on the various models, policies and practices of gender equality in Denmark and Sweden. It will also be a chance to foster an ongoing dialogue between Arab and European MPs and officials on women empowerment.
