The Swedish Institute Alexandria will be closed from 19 December 2018 to 7 January 2019 for Christmas and New Year Holidays. Normal working hours will be resumed on the 8th of January 2019. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to All!!

    The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), the League of Arab States, and the Swedish Institute Alexandria (SwedAlex) are organizing a capacity building workshop on Gender Equality to support national efforts to prepare National Voluntary Reviews on the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda, in Alexandria, Egypt, on 16-17 October 2018.

    Swedish Institute Alexandria (Swedalex) in collaboration with Method Kit/Spanish Consulate in Alexandria and the Danish Egyptian Dialogue Institute launches today its 2nd phase of “Remake the City” programme on the topic of “Dialogues on Urban Development to Combat Climate Change”. The programme brings together 25 young urban developers, architects and artists in a dialogue platform to address the urban fabric development of the city.

    The Swedish Institute Alexandria in partnership with Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and the Centre for Arab Unity Studies (CAUS), launched the Arabic translation of the SIPRI Yearbook 2017 last Sunday 11 February 2018. The Yearbook launch was part of the seminar "Arab Region Trends of Military Spending - Security, Defense and Development."
