Your workplace

The Embassy’s team for Sweden Promotion and Culture is responsible for enhancing Sweden and Swedish culture, interests and values. The team is also responsible for the Embassy’s traditional and social media as well as for promoting Sweden as a study destination. We are now looking for a Culture Officer who will be dedicated to cultural projects, programming and long-term cultural relations between Sweden and China.

Main Tasks

  • Participates in the planning, implementation and follow-up duties of culture projects and visits
  • Supports the Counsellor for Cultural Affairs
  • Supports in the contacts with and between Swedish and Chinese authorities, cultural organisations and independent cultural actors
  • Supports in the monitoring and reporting on cultural matters
  • Administers programs, calendar and networks in Sweden and China
  • Prepares social media messages on cultural initiatives and projects to target groups in China and Sweden with colleagues in Sweden Promotion and Public Diplomacy
  • Cooperates with colleagues in Sweden Promotion and Public Diplomacy in special projects

Essential qualifications, skills, and experience

  • Experience and knowledge of project management in cultural relations and/or creative industries
  • 3–5 years professional work experience in cultural and/or artistic organizations
  • Excellent English and Chinese language skills
  • Documented experience of report writing
  • Documented experience in managing projects and events
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Creative, flexible, and capable of working independently and in teams
  • Social ability and good judgement
  • Deep knowledge of the Chinese society and culture
  • Prepared to travel with short notice
  • Prepared to work in evenings and weekends on occasions

Desirable qualifications, skills, and experience

  • International work or study experience
  • Academic degree in culture and/or arts related degree or related fields
  • Artistic work experience
  • Experience in or knowledge of Sweden or other Nordic countries
  • Experience of interpreting between English and Chinese
  • Knowledge in the Swedish language

What we offer

This is a full time (39,75 hours per week) local position based at the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing. A six-month probation period will apply. Individual salary applies and other terms and conditions, too, will be discussed individually with successful candidates.
