The Embassy of Sweden in Phnom Penh marked the celebration of the Swedish National Day 2019 at Raffles Hotel Le Royal under the main theme “Effective social dialogue for decent work and sustainable inclusive economic growth”. The ceremony was presided over by H.E. Ms. Maria Sargren, Swedish Ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia together with the guest of honour, H.E. Dr. Ms. Ing Kantha Phavi, Minister of Women’s Affairs, and some 400 representatives from the Royal Government of Cambodia, embassies, UN agencies, national and international organisations, civil society, Swedish citizens, the Nordic community, universities, alumni and private sector.
This year’s theme “Effective social dialogue for decent work and sustainable inclusive economic growth” supports the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 8 on “Decent Work and Economic Growth”. In support of the celebration, six development partners of Sweden in Cambodia displayed their activities and achievements in Cambodia that have contributed to the implementation of SDG goal 8 as well as to the Global Deal, a global partnership of governments, unions and business, with the objective of jointly addressing the challenges in the global labour market and enabling all people to benefit from globalisation.
