Welcome to the Embassy of Sweden in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Sweden established diplomatic relations with Cambodia in 1961. For many years Sweden was represented in Cambodia through the Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok and its Section Office for Development Cooperation in Phnom Penh. In August 2010 Sweden opened an Embassy in Cambodia.
The focus areas for the Embassy are development co-operation as well as political and trade related issues. The Embassy has an overall mission to deepen and broaden the relations between Sweden and Cambodia. The Embassy has regular contacts and dialogue with the Cambodian government, organisations, and development partners (multilateral and international organisations, civil society and other donors).
Sweden is a member of the European Union. The Embassy takes an active part in the European Union coordination regarding political matters, development co-operation, trade policy, and culture.
The Embassy promotes contacts in various fields between Sweden and Cambodia. This includes information about possibilities for studies and scholarships in Sweden.
In the consular area, the Embassy has the responsibility to assist Swedish citizens or persons with permanent residence in Sweden who are living in or visiting Cambodia. The Embassy can to a certain extent also assist citizens from other Nordic countries. The Embassy does not handle migration matters, but can provide basic information.
