Visa for visiting relatives or friends

If you apply for a visa to visit relatives and friends, you must submit all of the following documents.


Please note that it is important to submit all the required documents. Missing documents may cause rejection of the application.

1. Application for Schengen Visa, completely filled, signed and dated.

2. Two (2) photograph 35 x 40 mm in colour, not older than 6 months. The photograph must show full face and taken against a plain, evenly lit and light background. The photoghraphs must not be altered.

3. Passport and its copy of the page with biometric data and previous Schengen visas. The passport should be valid at least a further three (3) months after the date of expiry of the visa and shall contain at least two blank pages.

4. Extract of family registration (barkodlu nüfus kayıt örneği) showing civil status, parents, spouse and children. The documents should not be older than three (3) months.

5. Evidence of means of the visit, like flight bookings

6. Documents from the reference person in Sweden:

  • Invitation form, completely signed and dated.
  • Personbevis from your relative\friend. This can be requisitioned from the nearest local tax office in Sweden or from the website www.skv.se and should not be older than three (3) months.
  • Copy of ID-card, passport or equivalent, which proves the identity of your relative\friend.
  • If the referee will bear the costs of the visit: Evidence of sufficient funds to cover the costs for the visit, for example copy of bank-book, salary statement or like. 

7. Applicants should bring the suitable documents according to their occupation,

     For employees;       
       - A letter from the employer stating employment and 
         period of granted time off         
       - SGK Social Insurance entry with barcode, SGK diary with barcode and  
         salary payment roll         
       - Registry document of the Company         
       - Circular of signatures         
       - Tax document

     For employers;         
      - Registry document of the Company         
      - Circular of signatures         
      - Tax document

     For pensioners;         
      - Document prove your pension salary

     For students;         
      - Student certificate

     For farmers;

8. Evidence of sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay: Original bank statements for last 3 months , stamped and signed by the bank

9. Written parental consent, in original, for minors (age under 18), when the minor is travelling only with one parent or alone. This document should be stamped by a Notary Public in Turkey.

10. Travel insurance with 30,000 euros coverage. The insurance should cover the whole planned travel period.

11. Iraqi citizen's must show their National ID-card in original + submit a copy along with its translation.

12.  Residence permit for foreigners: Copy of Turkish residence permit for nonTurkish applicants. Requirement does not apply to Iraqi and Syrian applicants.


Note Additional documents might be required by Consulate General.

An application can be submitted at the earliest 6 months before the planned trip.

A visa does not provide automatic permission to enter into the Schengen Area. It is up to the border control authorities to decide on the entry. It is therefore important that you, at the border, can present documents such as return ticket, insurance, means of support and invitation.
