Application fees
Depending on what you are applying for, you will need to pay a certain application fee. Some categories of applicants are exempted from fees - see further below.
There are only three modes of payment:
1) Bank payment. Instructions will be given when you have been approved an appointment at
the Embassy. Please write the applicant´s name when paying at the bank.
2) Mpesa. Instructions will be given at the Embassy counter.
3) Payment at VFS Global´s counter, only for Schengen visa applications, submitted at VFS.
You will be informed about which payment mode that is applicable in your case, when in contact with the Embassy.

Visas
Schengen visa (1-90 days):
The application fee will not be refunded if your application is refused!
Kenya (residents): 10,160 KES (80Euro) for adults and 5,080 KES (40 Euro) for children older than 6 and younger than 12 years of age (VFS service fee of additional 29 Euro, 3,680KES).
Tanzania (residents): 80 Euros, approx 212.500TZH for adults and 40 Euro, approx 106.300TZH for children older than 6 and younger than 12 years of age. VFS Service fee: 65 Euro, approx 172.700TZH
Zambia (residents): Approx 93USD (80 Euros, 1570 KWZ) for adults and approx. 46 USD (40 Euro, 790 KWZ) for children older than 6 and younger than 12 years of age. VFS Service fee: 93USD (80Euro, 1570KWZ).
South Africa (residents): Approx 93USD (80 Euros, 1378Rand ) for adults and approx. 46USD (40Euro, 689Rand) for children older than 6 and younger than 12 years of age. VFS Service fee: 91USD (79 Euro, 1361)
National visa, Type D (only for exeptional circumstances, 91 days -):
The application fee will not be refunded if your application is refused!
approx 7,900 KES (60 Euro).
National visa and visitor´s permit for residents in Tanzania will be handle by the Swedish Embassy in Dar es Salaam.
National visa and visitor´s permit for residents in South Africa will be handle by the Swedish Embassy in Pretoria.
National visa and visitor´s permit for residents in Zambia will be handle by the Swedish Embassy in Lusaka.
Exemptions from Schengen visa fees
Please note that there is no exemption or reimbursement of VFS service fee.
The following categories of persons are exempted from the visa fee, in accordance with Article 16 of the Visa Code:
Children under 6 years (i.e. until the age of 6 minus 1 day). No fee (Gratis)
School pupils, students (university) and their accompanying teachers for purpose of education/studies. No fee (Gratis)
Postgraduates scholars for purposes of research. No fee (Gratis)
Students who have been awarded scholarships from Sida or other Swedish or international organizations such as the EU or UN organizations. No Fee (Gratis)
Representatives of non-profit organisations aged 25 years or younger participating in seminars, conferences, sports, cultural or educational events organised by non-profit organisations. No fee (Gratis)
Holders of diplomatic and service passports, (on official travel). No fee (Gratis)
Family members of EU*/EEA citizens who fall under the scope of the Directive 2004/38/EC on the right of citizens of the Union and their family members to move and reside freely within the territory of the Member States No fee (Gratis). This category may also apply directly at the Embassy in Nairobi, in order to avoid VFS´ Service Charge.
