A smart city is a place where traditional networks and services are made more efficient with the use of digital solutions for the benefit of the people and business of the city.


A smart city goes beyond the use of digital technologies for better resource use and less emissions. It means smarter urban transport networks, upgraded water supply and waste disposal facilities and more efficient ways to light and heat buildings. It also means a more interactive and responsive city administration, safer public spaces and meeting the needs of an ageing population.

14.00    Energy Solutions for Climate Neutrality – The Nordic Outlook/Approach

Sustainable and efficiently used energy is one of the main smart city priorities, and the Nordic countries are in the forefront to offer smart solutions. Andreas Kuhlmann, CEO of the German Energy Agency, will outline the challenges for German communities to reach climate neutrality, and experts from Sweden, Norway and Iceland will present and discuss their approach and Nordic solutions.

The true success and sustainability of smart cities depend heavily on their capacity to ensure cyber security and digital safety. In this panel discussion we explore digital solutions amongst the Nordic countries in public and private contexts to bring forward key Nordic learnings.
